Natural beauty is one aspect that Khao Lak doesn’t lack. Because of this, you must use your time wisely to explore as much of the area as possible. Start by lounging at their white sand beaches while enjoying the calming view of the Andaman Sea. Raise the ante of adventure by scaling the mountains surrounding the area.

You can also visit Phang Nga Bay and its surrounding islands via longtail boat, and enjoy the sumptuous Thai dishes afterwards. Likewise, take a dip at any of the area’s hot springs during a cold day or at night. These natural or human-made pools can reach a temperature of 65°C, and there are several of which to choose from in Khao Lak. Aside from shaking off your stress, these hot springs provide several health benefits.

What are the benefits of bathing in hot springs?

Geothermal activity warms water that passes through different rock layers and charges it with dissolved minerals that provide healing properties. The increased temperature kills germs and improves digestion by boosting your body’s metabolism. Minerals such as sulfur, carbon dioxide, calcium, and lithium stimulate the immune system to heal organs.

Hot springs also increase endorphin production, which improves your positive mood. Regular bathing at hot springs also lowers blood pressure and improves mobility. Here are three hot springs to visit in Khao Lak.

1. Ban Do Dan Springs

This natural spring water with high mineral content is about half an hour south of Khao Lak and three kilometers of the main highway. Ban Do Dan contains calcium, sodium, and various iodides, which relieves pain and makes the skin healthier. This hot bath is a popular weekend destination for Thai families, and it is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm for a 500 baht service fee.

2. Rommanee Hot Springs

Rommanee is located 40 kilometers north of Khao Lak, and it is believed that the water contains minerals that treat arthritis and beriberi. Its facilities received an upgrade in 2010 when a five million baht grant from the Phang Nga province helped improve the surrounding infrastructure with modern buildings and constant electricity.

3. Kapong Hot Springs

Located in Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park, this hot spring on Route 3090 is the perfect retreat after a day of trekking the peaks. Nearby Lam Ru and Hin Lad waterfalls are an exciting alternative for Kapong.
